December 2020 through February 2021

These are burdensome times for us all, but little gestures matter. The Mildred Complex(ity) installation this winter season is devoted to the study of packaging, either filled with something – or full of nothing but hopes for a better future.

We invite you to view an installation of packages – rebuilt from the excess of shipping boxes collected during the pandemic months. As a small form of adaptive reuse, we assemble multiple-use boxes wrapped with recycled materials, used papers, fabrics, scraps, ribbons, and strings from The Department of Interstitchiaries studio. 

We have an abundance of sustainable packages and artwork for gifting, Collect and fill these fancied misfit boxes with tree ornaments, sewing notions, ceramics, and medicinals. We provide services to wrap and embellish your gifts in handmade containers in exchange for your support.

The ongoing PACKAGES project demonstrates and urges environmentally and economically sound packaging tactics; recycle boxes, old clothes, household textiles, paper bags, and newspapers to wrap gifts this season. Help continue the devotion and spirit in boycotting all plastics and other petroleum products that overtake seasonal events, polluting this delicate planet.
