BEING THERE @ MILDRED’S LANE!
EXPERIENCE SHOPPING IN THE WILD DEEP PENNSYLVANIA WOODS!
Overnight Experiences / Retreats / Workshops / Events / Tours / Collecting / SHOP!
We are now opening the site to individuals interested in historical exploration, contemporary art, collecting, and sustainable living practices in the 21st century.
The Department of Interstitchiaries is a tribute to our rich history, now showcasing and selling selections from the archives of J. Morgan Puett Clothing from the eighties and nineties, Tivoli Tile works Crow Ware by Caroline Wallner, Mark Dion prints, Alastair Gordon paintings, and a collection of rare artist books – all for sale. Your visit will inspire your creative soul and benefit the newly formed Mildred’s Lane Inc., a 501(c)3 organization—a clean and sustainable way to support art and ecology.
For twenty-seven years, Mildred’s Lane has been a meeting ground and crossroads for landscape interventions by renowned multidisciplinary artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. During the summer, Mildred’s Lane hosts educational workshops where artists engage with and enact research-driven and critically engaged contemporary ideas that produce collaborative transhistorical artworks. Educational institutions send fellows to participate in these sessions to rethink human engagement with the non-human world around us through creative and environmentally sustainable practices for living on this delicate planet – inherent in the curriculum is the practice called WORKSTYLES.
Overnight stays are available for Fall bookings. The main lodge house is situated in the meadow and has sensuous (?) rooms full of collections and curiosities. The library is an epic experience with a stone fireplace, collections of nonfiction and fiction, and hundreds of books about all the artists who have convened there over the years. The kitchen laboratory is a fantastical installation of equipment that allows you to create your own Digestion Choreography.
It is an unprecedented opportunity to view and stay in the spaces artists have created for decades. The landscape is smattered with restored and recreated 17th—and 18th-century farm buildings, glamping tents, small shacks, and campfire sites; hence, you feel the patina of centuries yet are inspired by contemporary artist practitioners who have left their mark. The walls are full of contemporary artworks permeating the main lodge house. Forests, fields, ponds, and streams are nestled in the middle of the woods near the Delaware River. The Hamlet of Narrowsburg, NY, is within walking distance, with more shopping/collecting experiences and fine dining throughout the year.
