An art installation and tailoring event. Opening passages of the feministic, contemporary translation of Homer’s ODYSSEY are performed aloud by Emily Wilson, as workers stitch and unravel a death shroud.

For Narrowsburg’s Inaugural DEEP WATER LITERARY FESTIVAL; The Mildred Complex(ity), One Grand Books, and the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, host the installation/event of, PENELOPE’S SUITORS, while opening passages of Homer’s ODYSSEY, by Emily Wilson, are read aloud. This work is the first translation of the ODYSSEY to English by a woman. Wilson, herself, will perform the opening passages at Narrowsburg Union.
The installation, J. Morgan Puett's continuing series of artworks titled, THE SUIT, (2001-present;) reconstructions, and musings over the history of the three-piece suit – in multiple and multiplied. In this version, A small community of stitchers quilt and tailor pieces of suiting together growing a dynamic annulus. Using the conceit of Jasper John’s Target series from mid 20th-century contemporary art – the slow end to millennia of male domination in art and literature – Puett and Collaborators pull apart, unravel and reconstruct wool suiting into a circular death shroud called, Penelope's Suitors.
